Our apartment is right next to a grocery store. Literally, we just have to walk across the parking lot, through a gate, and around the corner of the store building and we are at the front door of it. This evening we really wanted Oreos, so we walked to the store together and it took less time to walk there and back than it would have if we'd driven! I will definitely be walking there from now on whenever I just need a quick few items.
That's awesome! I live right next to a Walmart, literally right behind the building but I've only walked there once. Partly because I usually do buy more than an armload, and partly because I am afraid of getting mugged. I've never felt unsafe since I've lived in Houston or had any real danger or threats, but I try to stay aware that it IS a big city and there is real crime here. So I figure it's not the best thing to be walking outside of my home with my purse or even just my wallet where someone could just come up to me and take it.
