-262- Wispy Clouds, Bright Blue Sky

Yet another beautiful day today! I took this photo while enjoying my lunch in the car.

I've mentioned before that sometimes I take my lunch in my car, and you may be wondering why. Well, I'm an introvert, so sometimes I just need to be alone. I like to retreat to my car for that one hour, and it really helps me feel better. Plus, I can concentrate on my book a lot better without anyone nearby!

-261- Peering Down On Me

I pulled up to the apartment this evening after work and found this sweet little feline face looking down at me from the balcony. She looks so cute, no wonder the kids who live and play nearby always look up at our balcony when she's on it!

-260- Static Cling

Our couch is the static king if there ever was one. It gets worse when you use a soft blanket, which is very discouraging.

-259- Donuts

This morning our apartment complex's CARES Team (basically, the hospitality team) hosted a come-and-go donut event. Justin and I gladly walked down to the office today and picked up donuts, sausages-in-a-blanket, coffee (me), and orange juice (him). I chose the blueberry cake donut, which was A-MA-ZING. I have never had one before, but it may be my new favorite, or at least it may be tied for my favorite with the old fashioned chocolate cake donut.

-258- Bye Bye Oreos

Justin and I love cookies, especially Oreos. Now, we have way too many kinds of them, and we've had these Creamsicle and Berry Burst Ice Cream varieties since early last summer and haven't finished the cartons because neither of us are particularly fond of them (we both favor Double Stuf). So we finally threw them out tonight. About time!

This made me fume. We received back some of the old tenants' mail on which I had written "Return to Sender" and stuck back in the mailbox. I am seriously going to have to figure out how to stop this mail from coming back to us or I will go insane.

-256- Turbie Twist, Homemade Style

Sometimes, especially if I take my shower at night, I will wrap my hair in my towel in a mock turban for about 15 minutes. It really helps take excess water out. I was just being silly tonight, as you can see.

-255- A Peek Into My Car

My center console always has several things in it, but the one thing that I have to keep replenishing are the napkins. They sure do come in handy! Today they proved their worth during my lunch that I chose to spend in my car. They also clean bird poop off my car and boogers off my nose... so they're perfect for those more serious occurrences as well. ;)

Oh my gosh. I am the worst photo-a-day person ever. Oh well.

-253- Tethered

I finally found some work shoes at a reasonable price! It was a bit of an ordeal trying to decide if they fit well enough, because they were inconveniently tethered together with a strong little plastic zipper. I hate it when shoe stores do that! I'm just thankful I finally found a new pair of shoes that I didn't feel guilty about buying due to the cost.

Today I prepared myself for the ride home by rolling the windows down a bit. It was so nice outside today! What a shame I had to spend most of it inside an office.

This is part of the fitness center at our apartment complex. I am determined to become friendly with this room, as I really want to get healthier and in better shape. Whenever we have kids I want to be able to keep up with them!

I had today off in observance of Martin King Luther, Jr. Day. I was able to have an afternoon snack of blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese and a steaming cup of chai. It was wonderfully relaxing to indulge in this treat midday, and it also warmly reminded me of breakfasts from the cafe in the building at ACU where Rebekah and I once had a morning Bible class together.

We're going to try giving these calming treats to Chloe at night from now on. Hopefully she'll stop meowing our ears off when we go into our room!

-245- Ice Ice Baby

Today Justin and I took a gander into Dallas to see the Stars game.

I had been to the American Airlines Center before, but I never realized that the news station I watch in the mornings was broadcast from there. I was so excited when I saw this today that I just had to get a picture. I felt like I was in a famous place! I love those Daybreak newscasters.

This day deserves another photo... This is the fan zamboni. Some people may know that one of the things I would love to do before I die is ride a zamboni. I have to figure out how to score a ride on this bad boy!

One of our favorite things to do is pester Chloe (she loves it though). This is Justin (I would like to think that fact is obvious - my legs aren't that hairy!) giving her tummy a good rub before bedtime.

It's hard to make out, but I caught a shot of someone getting their car trunk searched by the police in the McDonald's parking lot. There were at least three police cars there.

I don't normally take photos while I'm driving, but I felt the urge to do so today with the Texas sky boasting its particular "big sky" beauty.

-240- Pillow Surfing

Chloe sits and lies on the strangest things and in the strangest places, most of which look extremely uncomfortable. I caught her perched on this pillow on our recliner this evening. A few minutes later, the pillow slid down the leather near the edge of the seat and took her along with it. It reminded me of boogie boarding or surfing on a wave. It was pretty funny!

I know it's not readily apparent, but there is a train in this photo to the right, near the horizon line. I thought it looked so cozy riding through the green and gray of the scenery. I snapped this on the road home from Abilene tonight.

Justin's sister just had a baby last Thursday! Her name is Paisley. We have come to Abilene to see her and she is BEAUTIFUL and SO precious. I thought this picture was cute because her feet were hanging out of her undone swaddle (and also because Justin is holding her). He looks good holding a baby, doesn't he? ;)

-237- Scan Barcode

I just thought this was so cool. This is the scanner at a gas pump at Kroger. Justin and I have membership cards there and shop there for our groceries, so we get fuel points that add up and eventually get you 10 cents off each gallon of one fuel-up. I thought it'd be hard to reach the amount of points needed, but it really wasn't, so I've decided to start gassing up there whenever we have the points. Gas has been going up lately, but hopefully I will be able to scan by Kroger card here pretty often and get it cheaper!

-236- Silicone

I started dinner tonight before Justin got home from work, and I couldn't open this spaghetti sauce jar. I was frustrated, because my man wasn't home to open it for me. Then I remembered that we have a couple of silicone pot holders, so I decided to see if one would help me open it - and it did! I was so proud of myself for thinking of that, even though it probably would have been obvious to anyone reading this. Now I'll have to keep them in mind whenever I can't open a jar.

I had no idea they even sold these anymore... much less sold them for 40 bucks - which I think is way overpriced. Apparently Best Buy keeps them in stock and thinks people will buy them for this price. I wonder how many they sell nowadays?

-234- Lopsided Cornbread

Every Wednesday at work during this fall/winter season, we have had people (who volunteer, of course) bring soup to share for lunch. We usually have cornbread or crackers to go with it, and tonight I made the cornbread for tomorrow's lunch. Unfortunately, our oven cooks unevenly and hotter than it should, so this is what happened when it was in for 3 minutes less than the minimum time the box said was required to have it cooked all the way. I knew our oven was wonky but this really was a wake up call as to how off it is!

-233- Green Thumb... In the Making

I bought some pots, potting soil, and flower seeds a couple months ago, but only just got around to planting them today. It was beautiful outside, so while Justin was washing the cars, I went out on the balcony and sowed my seeds. The pot on the left will hopefully yield golden poppies, and the one on the right, snapdragons. We'll see how green my thumb is!

-232- So This is the New Year

I know that I took a photo sometime in November of the November calendar, but this is a different situation. This is the wonderful Chick-Fil-A calendar, known for their hilarious spoof photos and great coupons on the bottom of each month. I can't believe it's already time for a new calendar! 2011 was great, but here's to 2012 - which will hopefully only be better.
